Who knew 7-11 could be so charming?  Jesper Ericstam sure did!  The Backyard director invokes an unusual sense of urgency in his latest spot for the mini-mart chain, with a smirk inducing revelation at the end.  Featuring a buffoon-like but chivalrous lad, Ericstam directs him around a menagerie of neighbors who just can’t quite figure him out.  It’s too darn adorable to give anything else away so just do yourself a favor and watch the spot already!

 

Kim Nguyen’s Got a Rebel on Her Hands

The MTV Movie Awards are always peppered with unforgettable moments.  But the image etched in our minds is of sexy Channing Tatum feeling up Rebel Wilson, from the hilarious promo spot, directed by Backyard’s Kim Nguyen.  The campaign was just a teaser for the antics Rebel was provided during the big show.  Ms. Wilson hand picked our talented director, and the two made quite a team….just ask Channing Tatum!

 

Battle Tested, Road Ready

In his latest spot for Goodyear, Nick Piper puts rubber to the road, literally.  From the engineers and factory workers to the race drivers themselves, we follow the course of the iconic tires and the thrill of Nascar is alive throughout.  So even when you’re driving your Camaro, you can feel the pulse of Nascar when you’re rolling on America’s top tire.  Piper teamed up with Backyard’s Kris Mathur as executive producer, and the two crafted a checkered flag winning spot.  Check it out below.

America’s favorite weatherman, Al Roker, teams up with Xander from Backyard to bring us the Ad Council’s latest spot on storm preparedness.  As we Sandy survivors know all too well, a storm surge can come on like a mother, and we all need to be prepared.  Xander and his team perfectly captured the essence of a sunny day that gives way to armageddon.  With green screen and special effects, he masterfully directs his weather elements as well as his weather man and the result is a memorable and impactful psa.  The Today Show crew goes behind the scenes on this spot and we even get to hear from Xander himself.  Check out this clip and remember…bottled water and batteries!

Before you start thinking there’s some kinkiness going on here at The Family… check out Backyard Director Jesper Ericstam’s latest for Ikea. With his special brand of subtle,warm humor and beautiful film, Jespers puts a twist on the all too familiar idea of a kid running into a parents’ room to sleep, ousting one said parent.  Jesper lets us know that no matter where (or with whom) you find yourself sleeping/tossing/turning/cuddling, you can sleep tight while resting your head on an Ikea pillow, or wrapped in an Ikea blanket, or fast asleep on an Ikea bed.

 

 

Pucker Up!

Is kissing losing its appeal thanks to the increasing trend in men’s facial hair?  Backyard’s Xander ponders this conundrum with his quirky documentary below.  Featuring a charming host with priceless reaction takes, we learn new terms like “burn beard” (the redness women suffer from kissing a man with too much stubble), and man’s failed attempt at peacocking by growing outlandish mustaches like the “walrus.”  Whether facial hair and desirability are linked we may never know, but this delightful doc surely makes you wonder.
